How to Save Money on your Wedding and Still Have your Perfect Day!

We’ve all been there, you’ve started planning your dreamy wedding day, adding elements which are unique to your relationship and everything is starting to fall into place. Then you check your budget… But don’t worry, we’ve put together some simple tricks which can help you cut costs without compromising on your perfect day!

Wedding Dress

Ceremony, Boston, MA
1. Order your dress in advance
Order your wedding gown at least eight or nine months out to avoid rush fees of as much as $500 and last-minute alterations of $100 to $300.
2. Catch deals on Social media
Follow your favorite local bridal stores on social media to find out about sample sales and also to catch promotions like 10 percent off your gown, 20 percent off jewellery or a free veil with gown purchase.
3.Save at a trunk show
Save anywhere between $150 to $500 for your gown by shopping at a trunk show. Some salons will even throw in complimentary customization—like a neckline change, size adjustment or veil—which could be another $150 to $800 in savings.

Photography

See WPJ's list of recommended Wedding Photographers in USA.
1. Make the most of their time
Consider booking your photographer for 8 to 10 hours instead of a full day, which is typically 12 to 14 hours. They'll still capture the all important moments  but you'll pay as much as $4,000 less.
2. Seek new talent
Wedding photography rates can vary massively. So don’t be afraid to seek up and coming talent who are often much cheaper. Out of season photographers can often recommend new talent or social media is a great place to start.
3. Go digital
To save on your photography costs, only order the digital images and get them printed later on.

Flowers

See Wedding wire's List of budget friendly Florists in USA.
1. Go Green
Don't underestimate the beauty of greenery in a Bridal Bouquet! It's inexpensive and adds a lot of size and interest to arrangements.
2. Embrace minimalist Bridesmaid Bouquets
You need only two or three large blooms with a little bit of filler to create bridesmaids' bouquets that are minimalist chic —and up to $50 cheaper apiece!
3. Double up their duty
Arrange with your florist to repurpose the flowers from the ceremony to the reception. Bridesmaid Bouquets also work great for reception tables. (Same goes for your seats! Have the chairs from the ceremony moved over to the tables for the wedding breakfast to save paying for two lots of chairs!).

Food & Drink

See Wedding Wire's list of recommended Wedding Caterers
1. Cocktail hour
Save thousands by offering a signature cocktail or two for 1 hour only and then go back to beer and wine at dinner.
2. Source caterers from the suburbs
If you’re getting married in a city, try and find a less expensive caterer in nearby suburbs who are willing to travel. Inner city caterers are always more costly.
3. Not everyone will have late night munchies
Order late night snacks for 70% of your headcount as some guests may leave early and others wont want to eat.
